For many people, myself included, dogs and cats are far more than just pets. They are integral members of our families, providing boundless joy and vital emotional support. In the best way possible, these furry companions have completely taken over our homes. This very mindset sparked Royal Canin’s mission to create an environment where both pet parents and pet shop owners prioritize specialized health and wellness. Working behind the scenes on this project, I jumped at the chance to immerse myself in this campaign to help create a better world for our pets.
Caring for an animal is an evolving responsibility. Times and environments change. What works now might not work in the future. I myself am constantly learning new ways to be a better pet parent to Vader, my own Force feline. Building a better world for them begins with empowering ourselves with access to specialized nutrition. After all, a healthy pet means a happy owner. But making truly informed, customized decisions for our animals requires finding trustworthy, science-backed sources.
Thankfully, Royal Canin answered that call. Through Pet Shop University (PSU), a dedicated Trade Education Program and campaign, pet shop owners, store staff, partners, and pet parents like me were equipped with the knowledge needed to provide the best nutritional standards and care for pets.

Do I invest in a premium brand or stick to a strict budget? Is imported better, or should I go local? What is the most effective training method? These are some decisions that I constantly consider every time I buy pet supplies. While buying essentials often comes down to individual preference, PSU gave participants much-needed clarity and practical insights. It served as a dynamic educational space that answered tough questions with science-based nutrition and professional pet wellness tips.
In turn, pet shop owners walked away with expert-driven recommendations they can confidently share with their customers.

I love it when Vader smells clean and his fur is oh-so soft. Fresh-looking dogs, too, are my absolute weakness! When cats and dogs look spotless, they become irresistibly cuter. It’s a clear reflection of proper grooming and genuine care for their health. True pet wellness goes beyond internal health; it shows on the outside, too.
I learned so much just by watching trusted pet groomers care for the animals at the PSU. Seeing big, energetic balls of floof transform into perfectly groomed, stuffed-toy-like pets completely melted my heart.

I have always deeply admired people who choose to adopt pets. Welcoming a rescue animal into your life is a noble, life-changing commitment, and these resilient animals often require an extra dose of TLC. Hearing about the rehoming initiatives championed at Royal Canin’s Pet Shop University empowered both shelters and prospective owners with the right knowledge and practical guidance to make those transitions successful.
Inspired by the day’s connections and conversations, I couldn’t wait to get home to Vader. The insights, support, and resources shared at the event completely opened my mind to what transformative pet care really looks like. My hope is that this educational movement continues to reach more communities. Because making a better world for our pets, not just cats and dogs, builds a kinder and better humanity.
